The seventh referential freeze of the WormBase database and software — WS160 — is now available at ws160.wormbase.org. We invite interested users to test the site and report any problems that they encounter. We strongly encourage those conducting long term bioinformatic studies to base their analyses on these frozen releases. Raw database files are also available on the FTP site.
New release of WormBase: WS161
WormBase has been updated to the WS161 release of the database. This release includes 41,500 new ESTs from the unpublished “Exelixis Caenorhabditis elegans
EST project”. This has led to a large jump in the number of CDS structures that have a ‘confirmed’ status. WE have also added nearly 2500 strains carrying transposon-tagged genes have been entered as part of the NemaGENTAG project.
New WormBook Chapters and WormMethods Sections
There were several new additions to WormBook‘s WormMethods section in July including “Behavior”, “Immunohistochemistry”, “Protocols for large scale in situ hybridization on C. elegans larvae”, and a new methods section containing methods and protocols for nematode species other than C. elegans. This section currently has two chapters, “Pristionchus pacificus genetic protocols” and “Isolation of C. elegans and related nematodes”, with more to be added soon. The Neurobiology and behavior section of WormBook has also expanded this month with the publication of “Male mating behavior”. For a monthly email containing information about new additions to WormBook, please sign up at www.wormbook.org/announce.html.
New release of WormBase: WS160
WormBase has been updated to the WS160 release of the database. This release contains ~1,800 new Mos insertion alleles from the nemaGENTAG consortium. WS160 will become the 7th “frozen” release of the WormBase software and database available in approximately two weeks time at ws160.wormbase.org.
New release of WormBase: WS159
WormBase has been updated to the WS159 release of the database. New in this release are 2270 new expression patterns. In the next few releases, we will be introducing a new controlled vocabulary to describe phenotypes. The next release of the database — WS160 — will be our seventh “frozen” release.
