The Worm Community Forum is moving!

In the coming weeks, the Worm Community Forum will be migrating to a new home and a new platform.

As part of the Alliance of Genome Resources project (of which WormBase is a founding member), we’ve built an entirely new discussion forum using the Discourse platform.

The Alliance Community Forum represents the first opportunity for online discussions across model organism communities.  We hope that this cross fertilization stimulates new discussions, raises awareness about techniques from other areas, and provides a convenient place for posting job positions.

We’ve already ported almost all users and the entirety of the discussion history from the Worm Community Forum. Still, we expect some minor inconveniences. Namely, existing users of the Worm Community Forum will need to reconfirm their accounts on the new system. We’ve also necessarily had to reorganize the hierarchy of some of the existing discussion boards, as well as remove some obsolete ones.

When the Alliance Community Forum officially launches, we will disable posting here but keep the forum running for a brief period. Eventually, we will redirect the Worm Community Forum to the Alliance Community Forum entirely.

Questions? Concerns?  Please add your comments to the discussion topic on the forums below.

    Dear Todd,
what is the update on the Worm Community Forum? I would like to post a job ad but the old site no longer allows registrations so iIam unable to post anything. I could not see the new forum on the Alliance website or will there no longer be one for the worm community specifically?
    Best,
    Barbara

I’ve re-enabled user registration on the WB Forum. Please feel free to create an account and post there for now!

The new forum will be going live (hopefully) this week. This new forum will span several MODs: SGD, WormBase, ZFIN, Flybase, and RGD. There will be a section specific to the Worm Community, and its very easy to limit your browsing to just that content. Hopefully, this unification will result in greater opportunities in cross-community discussion!
